TANKARD B&W SCROLL
Brilliantly executed design and construction of an original located in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan. It was fashioned after a Near East shape. The continuous scroll decoration of three lotus flowers separated by two peony flowers sets off two bands of rounded petals around the shoulder and the foot. Elongated petals adorn the neck and a classic scroll runs along the handle. A similar tankard made in Xuande was auctioned at Sotheby's in Hong Kong on May 17, 1988 for HK $2,750,000.
